What is VPN and why would I need it?

Most of the main UK television services (BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky) offer viewing over the internet. The only problem is that you have to be in the UK to access these services.  A Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides you with a new UK based IP address fooling the content providers into thinking that you are in the UK.  You can then access any UK sites even if they are restricted to UK residents only.

What is an IP address?

This is an address that uniquely identifies your computer and tells the website you are accessing where in the world you are.  When a website such as the BBC iPlayer receives a connection from you it uses your IP address to check if you are in the UK.  Connecting via our VPN means that the website you are visiting will see the IP address of our UK server and therefore conclude that you are in the UK.

Can I use multiple devices or have multiple users at the same time?

Absolutely!  This is one of the main advantages of purchasing a VPN ROUTER as opposed to a standard VPN service.  If you subscribe to a VPN provider you will only have one connection at any one time per subscription.  Once you have purchased the VPN router you can have 4 devices connected at the same time.  In real terms, this means that several members of the same household can all be accessing different UK TV channels and websites at the same time.

Do I need to install any extra software on my computer?

NO!   For all you technophobes out there this is another major advantage of ordering the VPN router. No step-by-step software installation procedures, no need to alter the settings on your computer at all.  Simply order a router from our shop wait for the box to be delivered to your doorstep and plug-in and play.  This unique set up system also means that the VPN service is always on and always ready to go.

How long is the service contract for the VPN router?

We offer monthly and annual contracts.

I don’t know much about computers etc. How do I set up?

The VPN Router will arrive ready to go.  Simply plug the Ethernet cable into your main ADSL provider router/modem.  Next plug into the mains power and after a few seconds you will be able to connect through the Wifi or through an Ethernet cable.

How many NowTV boxes can I have?

Up to four compatible devices on your account. Of the four you register, only two devices can be used at any one time. You'll be able to swap your registered devices a limited number of times (normally one device a month). See the NOW TV website for further details.

Who controls the subscription for NowTV?

You have complete control of your viewing package and can choose what you want to view and for what period of time.
